Come and taste the cider of the year accompanied by the typical menu.
In the Basque Country, cider houses are very popular places with a long tradition. Typically, these restaurants are located in the mountains near apple orchards, where cider is produced and where you come to taste the year’s production along with a very particular menu featuring typical Basque dishes. You will have the opportunity to savour: cod omelette, grilled steak, Idiazabal cheese, walnuts with quince or cheesecake.
The atmosphere in a Basque cider house is generally informal and welcoming. Cider houses usually open during the cider season, typically from January to April.
During the meal, you will taste the cider directly from wooden barrels, pouring it directly from them after crying our “txotx.” The cider is being poured from a certain height into the glass, which you will be holding, which results in creating an explosion of flavors; and I will tell much more about it then and there while you are experiencing its complex array of aromas.
A truly unique experience that has been practiced for years in the land of the Basque. I look forward to welcoming you to enjoy the tradition and particular Basque cider and cuisine!
